If the summer has to end, why not let it go out with a bang – or at least some rhythm and blues and a whole lotta smoky barbeque goodness!  The Blues Views & BBQ Festival returns for its seventh season this weekend and promises to be bigger, badder, and more spicy (in a family-friendly way, of course) than ever!

Headlining this year’s festival are legendary guitarist and award-winning entertainer, Rick Derringer (Sunday evening), and ’90′s hit masters, the Spin Doctors (Saturday evening).  Music will continue throughout the day with performances by top acts including; Revered Raven and the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Popa Chubby, and more.  All acts are performing at the newly designed Levitt Pavillion, so if you haven’t had a chance to scope out this brand-new venue, this is a perfect opportunity to do so!

The Westport Downtown Merchant’s Association, which organizes the event, has gone big at the Kids Corral. This year kids can participate in a pie eating contest and then burn off their sugar buzz in any number of inflatable bounce houses, hula hoop contests, and other smile-inducing activities.  Older kids can show off their cooking prowess with a BBQ competition just for them!

Speaking of BBQ – plan to put your diet on hold as area chefs host cooking demos (and tastings!), professional chefs and amateur cooks will square off in BBQ competitions, and restaurants and food trucks will supply you with everything from beer to sushi.

Check the full schedule of activities and purchase tickets at www.bluesviewsbbq.com.  Napkins sold separately!
